The Eye of Horus

The Eye of Horus was used as a protective device and worn as amulets and jewellery or placed, in the form of a plaque, over the embalming incision on mummies.

Sometimes the Eye of Horus was painted on the bows of boats so that it could see ahead and protect the vessel.

One myth tells of the Eye of Horus and how it was damaged and then healed thus representing the waning and the waxing of the moon.
